Bayou Man Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

One Acre West Releases “Bayou Man”
A joyful, accordion-driven roots anthem built for dance floors and summer stages

Out March 20 on all streaming platforms

After introducing themselves with the warmly received debut single “Boy Like That,” One Acre West returns with something looser, louder, and impossible to sit still through.

“Bayou Man” is a full-tilt celebration of rhythm, regional roots, and the kind of love that feels larger than life. Driven by Cajun fiddle and accordion, the track blends acoustic guitar, lap steel, electric grit, and stacked harmonies into a sound that feels both modern and deeply grounded in tradition.

The accordion is performed by Grammy-winning musician Joél Guzman (Joe Ely, Los Super Seven, Robert Earl Keen), with fiddle by Richard Bowden (Austin Lounge Lizards), bringing a genuine Texas-Louisiana pulse to the recording. Produced by Bradley Kopp (Jerry Jeff Walker, The Flatlanders, Alejandro Escovedo) and recorded at Red Boot Ranch Studio in Buda, Texas, the track captures the spirit of a live band enjoying into the moment.

If “Boy Like That” leaned into classic country swing and storytelling warmth, “Bayou Man” widens the dance floor. There’s a backbeat that pushes, a chorus built for shouting along, and a sense of joy that runs straight through the track. Think Gulf Coast dance hall energy with a touch of Hank Williams swagger and the communal spirit of Mary Chapin Carpenter’s “Down at the Twist and Shout.”

Lyrically, the song celebrates the everyday magic of partnership:  gumbo bowls, back porch lights, Louisiana mud, and love that comes on like a rising tide. It’s playful, rooted, and unafraid to have fun.

The release builds on the encouraging response to “Boy Like That,” which Indie Boulevard called “a genuinely great country song -- well-written, warm vocals, lovely storytelling… the whole package.” TMP Promotions noted it “hits home on the first play,” while Indie Valley Music highlighted the band’s “energetic, melodic, harmonious, and deeply optimistic sound.” The single continues to gain steady organic traction on Spotify, signaling a growing audience for the band’s roots-forward approach.

One Acre West, the project of Kristi Jean and Steven Branstetter, draws on shared histories across Texas, Colorado, and now Pennsylvania. After years of live performance and a period away from music, the duo returned to songwriting with renewed clarity and purpose. Their forthcoming debut album explores belonging, identity, and family with honesty and heart. “Bayou Man” reminds listeners that joy belongs in that story too.

This is a song built for festival stages, community radio, Americana playlists, and any space where real instruments and real energy matter.
